Chanel no. 5 named after Coco Chanel in 1921.

Elizabeth Taylor was the first celebrity to start her own perfume line back in 1991 with her fragrance, White Diamonds.

Audrey Hepburn was one of the first celebrity to endorse a perfume. She backed Givenchy’s fragrance, L’interdit that was released for the public in 1957 even though the fragrance had been original composed just for her a few years earlier.

Joan Crawford also endorsed a number of fragrances. The most popular one being Estee Lauder’s Youth Dew that was released in 1953. Many other actresses during those times also endorsed Youth Dew.
